Flood warning for Stonehouse and Bridgend has been lifted

A FLOOD warning for Stonehouse and Bridgend is no longer in force.

The Environment Agency issued a red alert for the River Frome at Stonehouse and Bridgend yesterday.

A spokesman for the agency said: “This flood warning has been removed.

“River levels have now fallen below the flood warning threshold.

“However, a flood alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding may still affect roads and low lying land.

“Further scattered showers are forecast over the next 48 hours.

“We will continue to monitor the situation.

“Please avoid contact with flood water and avoid using low lying land and roads near watercourses.”

The Environment Agency issued a red alert for the River Frome at Stonehouse and Bridgend yesterday, which means: Flooding is expected – immediate action required.

The agency team noted river levels rising at the Ebley Mill river gauge gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

Consequently, they had expected flooding of property, roads and farmland in the area on Sunday morning.
